Rated 4 out of 5 by from Out Performs Gas and Last a Full Job I've recently switched from my 2-stroke to this. It's a drastic improvement. I was on the fence for the chainsaw so got this as a test and now I'm totally sold on electric tools. No messing with or storing fuel, No blistering from endless pull-starting in spring. I would recommend a second battery for Pros, but battery charges quickly for a homeowner to take a break ( I have a couple acre yard and went all day this this thing ). In regards to power I used it to clear brush in my woods too. The price is the only thing that drops my rating to 4 out of 5, but Batteries are interchangable with other tools

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome device! I was able to do around all my garden edges all around the house. Even handled heavy/tall grass on the Lo setting. My husband has a heavy duty Stihl wacker that he uses all along our 500' or creek frontage but this one allows me to keep up around the house. I'm 6' tall and most wackers are too short for me and hurt my back but was able to move the handle back/up and reach the ground standing straight not hunched over. Also, when walking from location to location the "engine" is OFF. No noise no heat!!! Excellent. So glad my friend found it and recommended it to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dewalt trimmer Son recommended we buy this rather the using our old gas one. Was a bit hesitant even though we have other Dewalt tools we are happy with. Did not like the battery operation. However bought on an on-line sale which included free delivery. Have used a few times now on same battery charge. The ha dle is long especially if your short but apparently this is to balance the weight. It works like a dream. Does get job, fast and light. Easy to use. Guard is a bit skimpy so like others have said wear your boots or long pants when using. I do think it is a bit pricey and sale price made differwnce in me purchasung it. All in all very pleased with product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Goodbye Gas Bought this string trimmer with high hopes after mostly all positive reviews. This is probably one of the better purchases I have made. The overall design is fantastic and when you press the button it goes no need to prime and wait for it to warm up. It rips through weeds with close to the same power of a good two stroke engine. The only design change I would make is with the handle, after long run times your hand wants to be placed near the back for better control and balance. Otherwise a great trimmer. Pros - No heat , No Gas, No pull start, Runs like gas, Dewalt quality Cons - Handle design, 6 amp is more money

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Destroyer of the yard I've tried many of the battery powered yard implements including several string trimmers and have yet to find one up to the task of cutting through the mess that is the outer perimeter of my property, until now. This thing is an unstoppable machine not unlike the terminator, cutting through opposition with unrelenting power and robot like precision. Most of the time, I find myself feathering the trigger on low rpm, as you only need to burst to full power to cut heavy material. Great purchase, very happy. We'll see if it lasts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best trimmer I'very ever used. I had to post this review. I have trimmed my yard four times and have yet to replace the string. The trick is to use the low speed setting and feather the throttle while trimming. This low speed setting is a feature I lacked with my prior Stihl. This trimmer has plenty of torque at low speed to get the job done. Plus, being electric the motor is in the head, therefore no torque reaction or vibration as with gas trimmers. I highly recommend this trimmer. The Dewalt string is more expensive per other reviews, but it lasts much longer than the extra cost once you get the hang of the low speed setting. I think Dewalt included the high speed only to compare with gas trimmers... but I assure you the high speed is not necessary nor recommended. Use the low speed setting and you will see how smooth and efficient this trimmer is.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product but.. Well made and sturdy. Previous comments about the debris guard are accurate. It's very small and just about useless. When you use this you need solid shoes and long pants as debris flies everywhere which could have been prevented with a larger more sturdy guard. Other than that it is very powerful and cuts just about anything with ease. Heavier than many whackers too so it is something you won't use for long periods of time without taking breaks. But it is well balanced. Battery lasts a long time and charges quickly. Sure beats the gas trimmers with the gas mixing and fumes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great battery powered trimmer If your looking for a trimmer that has all the power of the Gas models, this 40 volt dewalt is the way to go, I have this trimmer and the 80 volt kobalt one, the kobalt just does not have the umph behind it to go through the thicker grass as easy and is heaver. This dewalt is very well built, has more then enough power, my only complaint is that it comes with the 4 amp battery, if your going to be using it a good bit on the high setting i would reccomend getting a extra battery or two, my self will be purchasing the 7.5 amp battery.
