Rated 3 out of 5 by from WAY TOO HEAVY I have a model 318, 18". It does trim well, as expected, but my main problem with it is the head weight. I was thinking that I would be able to use this as a short trimmer as well as a long trimmer but it doesn't work that way. It only works if the two sections are together. This puts your hands 32" apart on the handle and since the head weighs about 5 pounds I am trying to hold that weight out at arms length with only one hand supporting it. The other arm has to stay back on the switch. There is NO lock to keep the switch in the On position. So, try holding a 4 or 5 pound bag of sugar out at arms length and see how long you can hold it there. Ok, now you know what it's like to use this trimmer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value on Balance I previously owned the 18v version of this product for 6 years but the electric motor died so I went looking for a replacement. There are not that many choices in pole hedge trimmers, especially with a rotating head. I also prefer an electric model for ease of use. Unless you are prepared to spend hundreds of dollars, there aren't that many choices. On balance this is the best value in its class but the 20v version is definitely better than the 18v. The battery is much lighter resulting in better balance and less arm fatigue, and it holds a charge much longer. This hedger is not a good choice for trimming thick branches. I use it to trim tall shrubs and small trees, like Hollies, but you can burn out the motor if you consistently attempt to use it on thick branches. That kind of trimming requires either a gas or 120v trimmer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Right Selection For Me Being a senior citizen... (very senior), I appreciate the light weight and ease of use. Also, not to be overlooked, the battery lasts just about an hour, which is long enough for me. I thought about buying an additional battery but decided recharging the one I have gives time for me to recharge, too. The imposed work break is very welcomed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Speed isn't the best - trim slow for best results I've used this on an 8 ft bush, a 7 ft bush, and 5 ft bushes that were 3 1/2 ft deep and about 25 ft long, and it worked well on all and never had to charge the battery. It's best to trim slowly as the blade speed isn't very fast. On the 5 ft bushes, it was a little cumbersome trying to trim and hold the trimmer. The trimmer is top heavy because of the motor so this makes it difficult to hold the trimmer while cutting bushes that are deep. All in all, it worked well and one I would recommend. I purchased the reconditioned model and couldn't register as such. I registered as regular trimmer so hope all will be well if warranty work is necessary.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected I'd had problems with another battery operated product, and so, I was leery about this one. However, it has really delivered excellent results, and I've had no problems with the battery at all. I get good cuts and my hedges are looking fantastic. Very good buy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very satisfied Was pleasantly surprised at how easy this was to use. Very good power for a battery pack. Did not find it difficult to use as others have stated. Used it for about 30 minutes and there was no loss of power. Cuts heavy branches with ease. Easy to free up when I hit a branch that was too big. Love the two piece breakdown and the storage bag.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too Heavy I've had this trimmer for a couple years now and it's just too heavy and really doesn't do an efficient job. It's fine when I'm on the ground and trimming something at my level, but when I get on a ladder and reach across the top of the shrubs in my yard, or above my head, it's just so cumbersome and heavy. I'm currently shopping for a lighter one. Also, the safety button on mine sticks. A couple weeks ago, I had a branch get stuck in the blades. I took my hand off the trigger and pulled the stick out. As soon as it was released, the blades started moving and cut the palm of my hand requiring a trip to the ER and stitches! Pay a little more for something lightweight and higher quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great overall Battery life good. Multi positions makes for easy cutting at any angle. Front end weight tiring when reaching high.
