Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leakage if left attached can ruin the battery I, too, have discovered that DeWalt batteries left attached to this adapter will run completely down overnight. Given DeWalt's own statement that "You should stop using a battery as soon as you feel a substantial decrease in power from the tool. Completely running down a battery may damage it" (https://www.dewalt.com/dewalt-dna/featured-articles/best-practices-for-battery-life ), this dies-while-attached behavior directly contributes to the ruination of the battery. If you suspect you will occasionally forget to detach the battery when done using the tool then this is probably not the device for you, especially given the cost of replacement batteries.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Another Dewalt dud I've had this kit for about a week. Charged both batteries before using" and each tool ran ok the first (short) time I ran them. The next day, one tool was totally dead and the other ran a very short time. After reading a review, I see that leaving the battery in the adapter drains it. This makes the kit useless in my opinion. The last regular 18v batteries I bought had a short life. So this makes two purchases in a row that lead to disappointment. As another reviewer mentioned, they also don't fit the tools well. Darn near impossible to remove. I don't suspect Dewalt will do anything about this.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs warning to not store battery in adapter I bought this to enable me to continue using some of the older tools without buying more of the older style batteries. For that, it works great. However, it does not have any warning the connecting the battery to the adapter will drain the battery when not used. This is a surprise. Now I always remove the battery when finished using the adapter. I think this is a surprise and a negative for this product since leaving the battery attached to the tools does not drain the batteries.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 18v to 20V upgrade I bought the upgrade kit with adaptor over three months ago. I charged the lithium batteries. Now I finally go to use it and it doesn’t work, a couple times I got power to my drill but intermittent,as if the connection is weak. What a headache. So now it’s back Dewalt to try and understand why the issue!! I’m very disappointed with the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well. This fits on all of my old 18V XRP tools just fine. I have the hammer drill, impact driver, circular saw, grinder, reciprocating saw, 1/2" impact, and flex light and it works great in all of them. My 90 degree drill won't accept the adapter but I do not think it was ever in an XRP offering and is my only Dewalt cordless tool that is not XRP. The adapter is a little difficult to remove in some tools and is almost impossible to remove if you leave the battery in so it is best to remove the battery first. I just started replacing all of my XRP tools so I only plan on using this while I do that over the next year or so. I am using the DCB205 batteries and the run time seems like about 4 of my old batteries combined, maybe more. It looks odd on the tools and sits at an odd angle but works well so far. None of the larger batteries (6.0ah plus) fit the adapter but the run time is long enough with the DCB205 where having a spare battery would run a tool for a full work day anyway. I noticed a significant improvement in power even over my newer XRP batteries in all of my tools and have not seen any drawbacks besides making the tool overall length longer which makes fitting in tight areas a bit more difficult.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy Product does not work on most tools despite advertising it does. Packaging needs to list few tools it will work with. Called Dewalt they confirm will not work with any tools I have. Product is junk. Tools run soon has a light load is on tool, tool cuts out. Have disassemble battery, adapter and tool and reassemble to restart. Worthless!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DIscharges battery. Which tools, batteries work? I have always loved Dewalt tools however, this is the biggest junk Dewalt has ever sold. There should be a buyback on these. The info that Dewalt provides is erroneous as to which tools and batteries work with the unit. Dewalt also doesn't explain that without removal of the battery from the adapter the adapter discharges the battery. Now I have new 6 amp batteries and new fast charger for an adapter that does not work in any of my 18 volt tools.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't bother I've had countless DeWalt tools over the years and wanted this to work so I could move to the 20v stuff without losing use of my 18v tools. It's hard to remove, doesn't work with the new Flexvolt stuff which wasn't even out when I bought this... Put your money into a new system instead of this bandaid.
