Craftsman Cabinet/Tool 4-Drawer Chest Series 3000 - 41''

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you are lucky enought to find one, buy it. I first purchased the 2000 series (41" tool chest), because I gave up looking for the 3000 series after 3 months of contacting local Lowe's stores, Craftsman, and Lowe's corporate for any available for sale. I was in my local Lowe's the other day and they had a 3000 series chest and base available. I quickly returned my 2000 series and bought the 3000. Glad I did. The 3000 series uses much higher quality parts. Everything seems heavy duty compared to the 2000 series. It uses thicker steel as well. Some features I like are the extra depth. I can fit all of my longer wrenches vertically in the drawers, casters are much more heavy duty and attach easier, each drawer (base only) has four rails to support extra weight, the top chest has two rails per drawer. The entire unit (base and chest) is taller on the series 3000, I can fit a lot more in it especially in the top compartment. I have my battery chargers, laptop, radio etc stored at the top. There are also peg holes that allow you to hang smaller items along the back and sides. In my opinion the design and black/red colors are more appealing too. These items are large and heavy, if you have it delivered make sure to remove the cardboard top and inspect it for any dents and that it is sitting square before you sign-off on it. These things often take hits from forklifts. Have them open the box in the store too to inspect before purchasing too.
