This product, brand new, stalls when the choke is turned off. I've tried giving it longer to a lot longer to warm up, and it still stalls. What should I do?

Asked by: RC19
Problem resolved: I'd thought the gas I was using was fine. It was only a few months old and I'd added Sea Foam as a stabilizer. I figured I might as well try swapping out the gas for fresh premium grade gas, though. Now it's running great.

how easy is it to reload the string

Asked by: acepopsie47
Thank you for your question. Reloading this trimmer with line couldn't be easier. Simply align the arrows on the bump head, slip a 20' length of line through the eyelet, then turn the bump knob clockwise to wind it into the head. Easy instructions with illustrations are included with the trimmer manual.

Gas String Trimmer/Edger - Straight - 4-Cycle - 17" is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lowes is amazing, Cub Cadet is very good I purchased online, arrived in 2 days. They price matched RONA, way to go. Unit was a snap to put together, very simple. Be sure to read about oil, adding and maintaining. Runs good, again, read the manual, as no more than 10% ethanol/gas allowed. Didn't start so easy, but once it did, started no problem after. I have a good sized area needing this tool and it worked great. Trimer is light, balanced. Use the shoulder strap and find the right length, I used it for 30 minutes and it worked great. I own a Cub Cadet riding mower, so I trusted the name. I am not disappointed so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The besr After two weed eaters who were disapointments, I paid a little more and got the 4 cycle cub cadet. It is well worth the extra money, starts well EVERY time, has tremendous power and lasts. Stop looking at other ones, this is the kne you need!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to start I’ve been using the new trimmer for about ten weeks now and am mostly very pleased. Firstly, it’s very easy to start, often on the first pull. Not like the old “red” one I had. Secondly, if chews through tall grass and weeds without getting all plugged up. It has lots of power and is lightweight to handle. My only complaint is that the trimmer head turns counter clockwise so in order to avoid it throwing back at me, I’ve had to use it “left handed “.. Oh and another complaint is that the tabs holding the cover on the air cleaner broke off the second week of use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Brand new out of box leaks oil all over the place. Contacted Club Cadet after one use, they gave me their aurorized repair depot in Toronto. They looked at it and basically said this is normal for the 4 cycle and to ensure is stand it on end when not in use (Really). I bought this 4 cycle so I didn't have to mix gas any longer. Used second time, air filter spewed oil out, smoke, and oil leaks out all over the ground when running. I have no faith in this product nor Club Cadet's service. This is basically unuseable unless I want to fill the oil very time i use it. Poor service, poor quality product, and I will be ensuring I never purchase Cub Cadet again. This is obviously a seal problem right out of box and I don't have time to take it back again to service to be told this is normal. I will be telling people about my experince with the Club Cadet brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features I bought this item a month ago and I'm glad I did. Easy to start and use. I love the 4 stroke engine. No mixing hassle. Plus with attachments, this cutter does it all. I bought the brush cutting attachment and it was so easy to connect. I will be buying a Cub Cadet lawn tractor for the spring because I'm so impressed with this product. Well done ladies and gentlemen at Cub Cadet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from so far so good Feels solid, started easy and runs smooth. I do not like the oil checking system. would prefer a dip stick of sorts but understand with such a small engine that is not practical. Got it on

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overall ok model Purchased this item on sale after moving and now having to cut my lawn again. Prefer the straight shaft trimmers as they tend to last longer. Once the trimmer is going it does a decent job. String advance and trim is very good. Appreciate that there is no oil/gas mixing. Cons: motor is a little heavy so trying to use this without the shoulder strap is difficult if you have a large yard. Biggest beef is the starting of the unit. Has a 3 step process. First, need to prime it by pushing little rubber bulb 10 times. Then on first setting, pull cord 5 times. Then switch to second setting and pull cord 5 times, THEN moving throttle to position 3 pull cord and trimmer will start. Oh it gets better. You now have to let the motor warm up for up to 2 minutes otherwise it will stall. Seriously. i had a Stihl trimmer previously and it was prime, them start and off you go. Much easier to use. I will say I was happy it started, after all the processes, in the second season without any issues. Just annoyed you go thru all this to start up and then need to give it 2 minutes or so to warm up before you can use it. For price point, good, but for ease of use I would have you investigate other models.
