Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well (when used properly; speed, blade, etc) I was apprehensive when I saw the less than stellar reviews but I needed something to cut 1/2" bamboo flooring (which is 2x harder than oak). When using the correct blade and speed for the application, the cuts are perfectly serviceable. Keep in mind that it only comes with a high-speed wood blade meant to rip (cut with the grain). This is not meant to take the place of a circular saw, radial arm saw, table saw, band saw, etc., but a complimentary tool for down and dirty tight cuts. The trigger is variable speed, in a good position, and responsive. Good value in my mind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Joy to use I was checking out some more expensive jigsaws, the usual boschs/makitas and the usual price tag, when I came across there reviews for this fella, and boy oh boy did the others before hit the nail on the head. Solid build quality, very easy to use, and perfect for what I need it for and have used it for. Only quibble would be the blower and the lack of an LED, but then again I'm cuttin wood in my garage not engineering a river raft in the dark. It's my new favourite tool and I highly recommend it to anyone out there lookin for a new jigsaw. cheers

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replaced two older model saws My hat is off to Black and Decker. The guys in the tool department at My Lowe's are very helpful. Being retired military I just don't shop any where else. While building a deck, I put away my 7 1/4 in circular saw because this saw was much lighter and cut every thing I needed cut, from 1x4 to 4x4 and in between., One very important feature is the idle roller that the blade rides on. This makes the blade stay on course with no drift. Toolless blade change was my favorite feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product... but one suggestion! So I bought the saw to do a remodel. The complaint that I read from several reviews about the saw pulling left is 100% true... Fixing the "problem" is super simple. When you buy the saw, but a separate pack of quality replacement blades and keep the blade that comes with it as a back up spare. I replaced the blade that came with my saw and not only did it track straight, but the cutting became much easier, cleaner and accurate. If I had to do it all over again, I would gladly buy this saw again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Value for DIY Projects I purchased one of these for projects around the house. It's not as powerful nor does it have as durable construction as some models, but it's substaintially less expensive and perfectly capable of getting the job done. The tool is nicely balanced, easy to handle and has convienent blade storage on the side which I liked. The bevel angle is easily adjusted for the shoe and the blades are easily changed. I did not experience any issues with it pulling left or right like some other reviewers described however I was only making straight cuts in untreated 2x4' and 15/32" plywood.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice jigsaw for beginners I recently needed to repair a bathroom cabinet\sink floor. I needed to cut some wood and didn't have anything to cut it with. I bought this jigsaw and was nervous at first because I have never used a jigsaw before. This jigsaw made the job real easy. I didn't have any trouble cutting my board and a 2x2. I have all black and decker power tools and will say they build good tools.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Is it OK to be in love with your saw? I love this saw. I am a very beginning woodworker and this saw is my first power tool. I like the way it does not have a big circular blade--it feels safer. It cuts pretty patterns or straight lines. Tip: to cut straight lines, clamp down a long metal level and run the saw along its edge. (Take into account the distance from the edge to the blade!) Definitely throw out the starter blade and buy some cheap refill blades. I agree that something is wrong with the blade they give you. However, blades are very affordable. This saw has a handy blade compartment for storage of up to 3 blades. Also, the blade comes out easily for safety. Also for safety, if you release the speed pump with your right hand, the saw stops. My favorite thing about this saw is that it is self-explanatory. It has made it easy for me to learn how to do new things.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Blade keeps jumping track For straight cuts with the blade at a 90 degree, this is great. For gentle curves it is okay. For angles and sharper curves, it is a no-go. The blade will not stay in the guide, so the cut goes all over the place. I ended up getting a more expensive saw. I will keep this one for rough cutting. Good: Decking, plywood, rough cutting - if this is ALL you need, then this is a cost effective choice. Bad: finished products (where good looks matter), thick wood (usually ends up at an angle). Using the bevel. Another complaint: my shop-vac (small or large) does not fit in the back, the opening is too large. I guess there is an adapter kit out there somewhere, or it is designed for some other brand vacuum.
