This Metabo HPT dual bevel sliding mitre saw has a compact slide system that allows the saw head to slide along fixed rails, eliminating the need for rear clearance. Dual Bevel Sliding Mitre Saw with Laser - 12" - Aluminum is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 122.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid, no frills easy to setup Just pick one up and used it all weekend. I Need a zero clearance 12" miter and I chose this one over the Bosch because I didn't need the expansion rails and I saw no need to pay for something I didn't need. I was all set to square it up when I got it out on the box but it was dead on. The only adjustment I had to make was to turn one dial to adjust the laser to my cut line and that took 2 seconds. My last miter saw had a useless laser that you needed to adjust by turning two hex nuts with a tool. The Hitachi laser has one easy to reach dial that you turn by hand, great for readjusting when you swap out blades.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Tool I bought this saw right after it come out and have trimed out over three houses with it so far. It was setup almost perfect right out of the box. It has better lateral stiffness than the earlier model and and in my opinion a more attractive "no frills" design. I like the tall fence, and the zero rear clearance makes it take up less space in the shop. My one and only complaint is that eventually the slide mechanism gets stiff and needs cleaned and oiled to slide easy again. My older Hitachi C10FSBP4 didn't have that issue. Solid comfortable tool over all though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Saw I spent weeks researching a miter saw and it was between this and the Dewalt DSW780, I opted for this one since it came with a free stand and so far it has blown me away. The laser is accurate, the saw is sturdy, and it cuts 45's perfect. I really like the way it slides and how you hold the handle, it feels good to cut wood with it. Did I mention it will tear through wood like butter?? This blows the Kobalt 12 inch away I replaced. I'm honestly looking forward to purchasing more Hitachi tools now, I am a believer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Check it out when you get home Great saw with lots of feature at a very nice price point. Got my first one home and found that the head of the saw was not tracking straight down the middle though. As you pulled it out, the blade would hit the right side of the zero clearance insert. I did all of the adjustments and nothing solved the problem. Went on youtube and found another guy who bought a used one and fixed it by bending the 2 sliding rails the get the head back into alignment. But I bought this one new and opted to just exchange it. The second one works great, just make sure you check it out when you get home to make sure you don't get a factory defect. Of course, I suppose that goes for everything you buy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Was REALLY happy until electric brake went out. Saw was a great saw it was dead on out of the box including the laser got it on sale and was very pleased until the electric brake that slows down the motor after use went out now after you let go of the trigger gravity has to slow it down which is dangerous and not what I expected. It's only around a year old. I called the manufacturer to get a warranty clame and the nearest repair center is 3 hours away so that's a 6 hour round trip to drop it off and a 6 hour round trip to pick it up. I would recommend the saw just think I got a bad one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No accessories I missed the fine print on this that it did not include any accessories. It is the first miter saw I purchased that did not include extension/material support arms that come out of the sides of the base of the unit. I also purchased this style thinking that it might allow me to get it closer to the wall in my shop. However, the way the electric cord is attached as well as the dust bag I do not think this is saving me any bench space. I will need to re-read the manual for what to use to lubricate the sliding mechanism as it is really stiff to slide. Over all it is preforming fine but all in all it was not a WOW purchase. It left me wanting more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A really good saw I purchased last years model and have used it for the past year without any issues. It's a solid (heavy), well built saw. I love how it doesn't need a ton of space to slide. The laser is accurate and didn't need any adjustment out-of-box. I would purchase again

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Zero clearance Saw I finally upgraded and am so glad Hitachi makes great products. This saw does everything and more. It takes up no room at all compared to my other one that I had to have spaced away from my wall and was always in the way. No adjustments needed right out of the box; now that's fantastic. I gave four stars only because I think they should have included extension bars on both sides to assist with long material support, instead as an option to purchase. All-in-all a perfect saw for the DYI'r and professional. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
