PRO-LOCK Measuring Tape - 1.25'' x 25' - Black/Red is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Ready For Prime Time This tape measure looked like a useful idea, is made in the USA, and is a Craftsman tool, so I bought one. Worked great for a few hours until the auto-lock quit holding the tape out. Now the tape automatically retracts unless the lock button is forcefully held in place. This tool can easily be converted to a manual lock mode, so I tried that, hoping to at least have a useable measure. But manual lock mode uses the same faulty lock mechanism, and the tape retracts immediately even with the lock on. So, this tape measure is essentially useless for its intended purpose. I'm a looooong time Craftsman customer, and this is a disappointment. Will stay with my trusty Stanley FatMax measure tapes from now on.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mechanisms are flawed I really wanted to like this tape measure, made in America*, pro-lock, manual lock option but all those features were moot. After taking it out of the package and testing out the auto lock feature it seemed to work great even at just a couple of feet where I would expect some creep. But unfortunately after using it for the first time the auto lock feature failed as I attempted to mark off a bunch of lumber with the same dimension. I tried to manually lock the tape measure but had to reset the tape then pull it back out in order to lock it into place. I'm unfortunately returning this tape, the hook is too small, the lock doesn't work very well and the design of the lock switch is flawed too. I have a lot of Craftsman tools and I am not happy with this one. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Failed after 1 day Worked great in the store. Worked great for about 2 hours. Then slowly started becoming useless. Within 6 hours it wouldn't even hold anymore. After that the retract became weak as well if pulled out over 15ft. Pretty much the same issue as the other low reviews have stated. I ended up taking it back and exchanged it for a manual lock. This is probably my 4 attempt with these over the years. They never seem to hold up anyway, but i was hoping time would allow for solid improvements. Maybe i just keep striking out. I however work in construction so their used vigorously. Home use may hold up better... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Red Fat Max for a long time I was buying tapes 5 at a time which would last about a month because Komelion had the only auto lock tape out. finally about a year ago Stanley made one and I have had the same 2 since. a 25 and 16 ft I use on a regular basis. that tells you what grade this take is. i prefer the auto lock feature but for those who aren't especially sold on it, the button release pushes down and locks to make it regular automatic when needed. for those that don't know, this is simply a red version of the Stanley, since SBD now owns Craftsman. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth purchasing Purchased on sale, alot cheaper than the Fat Max self locking version. Very unhappy with it. Self lock won't hold tape in place and creeps to prevent accurate measures. There are cheaper ersions of self locking tapes that work alot better. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn’t hold open position I will probably end of returning this tape measure. I was hoping that the Craftsman tape measure would perform well but while it is supposed to remain open after you extend the tape, it does not remain extended and wants to slowly recoil on its own. Rated 2 out of 5 by from Auto lock. Doesn't work If you buy a tape labeled auto lock. You actually want an auto lock tape. That function worked for about 3 hours. Now it's a tape. Measuring things obviously it works. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
