I accidentally bought the outdoor variety for a very small project. Is it ok to use indoor?

Posée par: Jack735
Sorry I am no expert on this. I would imagine it should be fine. I wouldn't want to use interior outside.

can you put new varnish on top of an already varnished surface

Posée par: Gonzo12
You can put water based over water based, oil over oil, and oil over water(sanding well BEFORE applying 1st coat, scuff between additional costs), but NOT water over oil. Hope this helps!

What is the best type of brush to use to apply this?

Posée par: Maggie60
Hi Maggie60, When using our Varathane Interior Water-based Diamond Wood Finish, apply using a good quality, synthetic bristle brush.

I am in the process of refinishing a cedar chest. I have sanded off the old finish.  Would you recommend staining prior to applying varathane - Diamond Wood Finish?

Posée par: Cheryl 60
Staining is a choice. So you can stain if you want to change the color. If you want it natural , you can just apply the Varathane Diamond wood finish

Can u put this over a painted cupboard?

Posée par: Whitlivjade
No. I would say not . it"s water based so I don't think it would stick. You would have to check the can. I put it on pine and it is beautiful. I used the satin finish

Can i use on a baby crib

Posée par: Mam 1
Absolutely! Just let it cure the full 3 days before usage. It's a very low VOC. Your crib will be both beautiful and we'll protected after a 3 coat cover. Just don't forget to lightly scuff with a 400-600 grit sandpaper paper between coats. It makes for much better adhesion, and a smoother completed surface. You will be very happy with the results following the simple procedure above. It's the one I have used for years, after using liters of Varethane.

after I applied the varathane diamond wood finish varathane (waterbased)on my pine doors,.... .I realized it said non-yellowing, however in time will the pine wood itself become darker/ or yellowish...which is what I would like.

Posée par: Wavey
I have not experienced this. I have 2 examples. One is my son's dresser drawers. They're pine. Sanded and coated 4yrs ago, and they get A LOT of direct sunlight. Maybe 6hrs during the summer, and 4~4.5hrs in winter. Nayve 10% darkening(by comparison to the inside face of the drawer) over almost 1/2 decade. 2nd example is not the same scenario however. I live in a older Toronto rental. And as with nearly ALL 40+ year old rental apartments, I've got parkay floors in all bedrooms! One very high volume area of parkay had lost it's sealer a while back, but that bare strip recently started throwing slivers to my son's 7yr old feet! Not good! Sanded enough to remove the sharps, and used the very same can to apply 4 coats to 10 or so squares. 16 months ago. Little yellowing that I can see. BUT, I'm a little OCD, and the rest of the 20+ yr old coating in my son's room is much yellower, and will be sanded and coated this summer! I hope this helps you out! I can say with a high degree of certainly through much usage and experience (over the years I've used GALLONS of both latex and alkaline versions) that you have a fantastic product. I've refinished dining room and end tables, that after 5 or 6 coats, sanded in between coats, have put a diamond hard, mirror finish, that stands the test of time! Sincerely, Bo
